In the beginning, I thought there were only a few of these hatred songs released in Dancehall music. How little did I know... The more I searched the Web, the more I discovered. In total, 207 songs are exposed on this page, with lyrics when available. Although I think I could have come up with another hundred easily, the following list seems to include the most popular ones.

IMPORTANT: The songs listed below do not always advertised killing. Some of them have been included on this list because they criticize homosexuality using pejorative terms, therefore spreading disrespect and feeding prejudices.

NOTE 1: For a very good resume of what you will find in detail on this page, visit:  Incitement to Murder: Lyrics of Jamaican Dancehall DJs
NOTE 2: The songs highlighted in orange are the ones that are quoted the most often by gay and lesbian organisations, therefore recuperated in articles.
NOTE 3: A 'riddim' is the instrumental track that the singers will use to record their songs. In Jamaica, it is common to see several dancehall singers using the same riddim. The DJ's working in clubs or at the radio stations often use this variety of song recorded with the same riddim to mix several of them together.

.....NOTE: It is often mentioned that this song is not from 1992 but in fact from 1988. Here is a recap of Buju Banton's carrer that was publish in Jamaica Gleaner on December 13, 2009: "In 1988, age 15, he first recorded his most controversial song, Boom Bye Bye, which took issue with homosexuality. Largely because he was unknown, Boom Bye Bye failed to inspire until it was re-released in 1992 after he had made his mark with a range of singles, following on his two early successes. The following year was an explosive one for Buju as he broke Bob Marley's record for the highest number of number-one singles in a year" (Jamaica Gleaner)

.....NOTE: In A
ugust 2003, a remix of the song ‘Boom Bye Bye’ was issued on 7-inch single. The label read: ‘For soundmen use only’. Wether Buju Banton has given his authorisation for this release is unknown. According to my research, the same remix has several names: ‘Boom Bye Bye (To All My Niggas Remix)’ ‘Boom Bye Bye (Mash Up Remix)’ and ‘Boom Bye Bye (Hip Hop Remix)’ . Even if marketed as a ‘promotional item’ it was probably issued in huge quantity as it’s still available for purchase, when I did the research for this single in January 2008.

.....NOTE:
The 7-inch single is probably still press as the store Ernie B got it in it's New Releases section in April 2011.

The description says it's a reggaeton Mix CD.

Gi Dem Gunshot (2001) – Sizzla
(aka: Gi Dem Gunshot (Blaze Fire Blaze)).....Album: Blaze Fire Blaze (January 2002) (Whodat Records)
.....Single: none
.....Lyrics: not found
.....NOTE: This song is also know as GI DEM GUNSHOT (BLAZE FIRE BLAZE) which is a mistake, as the song GI DEM GUNSHOT is featured on the album Blaze Fire Blaze. The song BLAZE FIRE BLAZE is the first song of the album and GI DEM GUNSHOT is the second song of the album. The lyrics doesn't seems to be posted on the internet but the song can be listened on YouTube. This song was enumerated in a Jamaica Observer article refering on Sizzla advocating the murder of homosexuals. The article introduce part of the lyrics: He has no compassion for gays, who are lyrically slaughtered on about half of his gun tracks: "I am no pretender/shot mi shot de boy who a climb another man fender/ cleanliness a godliness, a judgement me render." According to my research, the album was done in 2001 but was released in January 2002.

Gold Mine Medley – Sean Paul/Beenie Man/Wayne Marshall/Vybz Kartel
.....Album: Riddim Rider Vol.10: Gold Mine (October 7, 2003) (Jet Star Records)
.....Album: Reggae Hits Vol.32 (November 18, 2003) (Jet Star Records)
.....Single: None
.....Lyrics: Not found
.....NOTE: At first signt, this seems to be a combination of four different songs recorded on the Gold Mine riddim. But I looked on the compilation and the songs from those artists are not included. Maybe they exist seperately elsewhere or maybe this song was originally done in that way. Beenie Man's singing does include homophobic lyrics, not sure but I also think the Wayne Marshall song also contains the term 'bogga" (for bugger man) or something in that vein. He also sings "like Sanchez said 'live it up' (refering to Sanchez's 2002 homophobic hit 'Frenzy') (could use a second opinion for this).

.....Single: Kill Dem (1998) (label: Kennedy International) (riddim: Bruck Out)
.....Lyrics: Found
.....Note: According to my research, the song was never issued on an album... only on DJ remix and 7-inch single. The initial information that was sent to me for that song was ‘Kill A Batty Boy’ by Scare Dem Crew, but it is a Harry Toddler solo song. Scare Dem Crew was originally formed in 1995 under the supervision of Bounty Killer and composed of four members: Harry Toddler, Elephant Man, Boom Dandimite, Nitty Kutchie. The band original named was Seaview Family, but they renamed ita after Bounty Killer hit ‘Big Guns Scare Dem’. The band broke up around 1999. Elephant Man, Harry Toddler and Nitty Kutchie all made prolific solo careers. A reunion as been announced in December 2007. Over the years, several violent homopbobic songs were written by Scare Dem Crew. There would be only one official album 'Scared From The Crypt’ (1999) and over fourty 7-inch singles. A lesser known album ‘Scaredem: The Album’ has also been issued in 1999, probably a compilation of single. A review of this specific album mentions that there are four 'batty boys' songs on it. The same webpage write that there are anti-gay lyrics on 'Scared From The Crypt'.
